Your support, your choice

If you secure funding for a LSL communication support worker from AtW, there are several ways you choice them.

Finding the right person for you:

We pride ourselves on finding the right person for you and in doing so take time to get to know you, your circumstances and the specific support and type of person you wish to support you.

​

To make sure the Support Worker is right for you, we will organise and facilitate a “meet and greet” session for you to meet your potential support worker. Giving you the opportunity to ask questions and decide for yourself if they are the right person for you.

We will make the final arrangements and start supporting you within your workplace.

 

LSL ACCESS Ltd has its own LSL CSWs team, they can offer you a choice of LSL CSW to meet their specific needs, can match supply to demand, and can also provide flexibility or 

 

If you prefer to use your family members or relatives as LSL CSWs? 

Good News! LSL ACCESS Ltd is happy to employing your friends or relatives to be part of the team for you too as long as they can provide the type of support you need.

The advantages are that you may choose an LSL CSWs that you know and you could consider friends, family or a wider and flexible, good working relationship and feel comfortable with.

 

There are no restrictions on who provides the support, but they must have the relevant skills to meet the disabled person’s needs. The support can be from through our existing LSL CSWs or new, your family members or even a friend.

The minimum core is not required as part of the qualification for CSW. However LSL ACCESS have set own the minimum standard, there should be a minimum standard of level or proven skills in an interview. The interview will make sure to see whether are good LSL or fluent, they must have the relevant skills to meet the disabled person’s needs and DBS enhanced.

Communication Support Workers 

The term communication support worker (CSW) refers to people who use a variety of methods to help deaf and deaf/blind people access in English. 
 
CSWs are not interpreters, their role is to support claimants to access communication in English, using a wide range of techniques (e.g. notetaking/rewriting emails, support day-to-day etc.)
