  • What is BSL/ LSL?
    British Sign Language (BSL) is the official sign language used in the UK. It is a visual-gestural language used mainly by people who are profoundly deaf or have severe hearing loss. Latvian Sign Language (LSL)
  • What is CSW and Remote CSW?
    CSW- Communication support worker Remote CSW - Access to an online CSW to supporting clients via video-call
  • LSL Communication Support Workers, what are qualification requirements?
    CSWs are not interpreters, their role is to support claimants to access communication in English, using a wide range of techniques or modifying Written English Texts, supporting deaf with understanding written material. They use a variety of support strategies and communication methods to match the individuals’ needs and preferences. Most CSWs have some ability in Sign Language, up to level 3.(BSL) However, this is not a requirement in order to receive AtW funding. Our LSL CSWs with us have been interviewed and DBS checked so that we can offer the best person to suit your needs. Essential requirements 1) Having a fluent in LSL or native (proven at interview) 2) Hold certificate in BSL qualification or equivalent e.g., sign as their first language, fluent (usually deaf) 3) Experience of working with deaf LSL users 4) Hold a current DBS Enhanced Disclosure/PVG licenced.
  • What jobs do you have available for CSW?
    We are always looking for LSL from across the country to join the LSL Access team we also looking for permanent staff positions that become available.
  • How do I use LSL Access?
    You can use LSL Access on a computer, smartphone or tablet. If you’re using a PC or Smartphone, you can either access WhatsApp or FaceTime, any App you prefer LSL ACCESS APP is not yet released.
  • Can I choose the LSL CSW I want?
    Yes, if you want to pre-book a video or in-person, we can book your preferred or named CSW
  • How to Book a LSL CSW?
    Support@lsl-access.co.uk or contact direct to your preferred LSL CSW if given contact number.
  • Can LSL Access help me with applying to ATW?
    Yes, we are happy to provide advice and support applying for Access to Work.
  • Do I need to be connected to the internet for remote CSW?
    Yes, you must have a good internet connection to use, either WiFi or a 3G/4G/5G connection. The better your connection is, the better quality your call will be. If you plan to use 3G/4G/5G, it will use approximately the same amount of data as FaceTime or WhatsApp. CSW in-person - do not require internet connection.
  • How paying to LSL Access LTD?
    The AtW team will provide you with form DP222JP Application for reimbursement of Support Worker costs. You and LSL Access LTD will need to complete this form for payment for the agreed period and send it to your AtW team. Full instructions regarding this are provided with the form.
